Some call him the Canadian Nick Lowe. Some call him the toppermost of the poppermost. We call him the amazing Raver. Wherever Dave Rave hangs his suitcase, like a bluesman or a sailor of old, he leads a gypsy life of music making from Hamilton, Ontario to Liverpool, England, to New York, NY, to New London, CT. Previously of The Shakers, Teenage Head, and The Dave Rave Conspiracy/Agnelli & Rave, he’s been solo since Y2K, but teams up with Mark McCarron for jazzier forays. From rockers to ballads to jazz songs and music that defies strict categorization, Dave Rave writes, co-writes (sometimes with Good Sponge’s Lauren Agnelli), and spreads goodwill and great songwriting everywhere. His 2010 release, “Live With What you Know,” was nominated for a Grammy and numerous Canadian awards, including the Juno award.

LOOKING OUT MY FRONT DOOR
(Agnelli/Des Roches)
Everybody ought to roll up their sleeves and get to work
Every pot should have a chicken in it, every home a car
That’s what they always say, meanwhile the children play
Things being what they are: can’t complain
Lookin’ out my front door / Pieces of an old dream
Lookin’ out my front door / Around me
Everybody’s got to pull up their socks and stop messin’ up
Every child has got to learn how to read and tow the line
That’s what we always hear, Success is always near
And just a step away from disaster
Lookin’ out my front door / Lookin’ out my front door
Pieces of an old dream / Around me
