about

Formed in the Spring of 2010 "John Fries & The Heat" has quickly become one of New London's most popular acts. The trio has been hard at work over the past year playing throughout New England from NYC to Boston.

Fronting the band is John Fries, who seamlessly blends a combination of singer-songwriter compositions & deeply rooted blues guitar. His voice is rich and deep, with a bluesy rasp and a true rock & roll tone.

"The Heat," featuring Ron Lewis on drums and Pat Perry on bass, make up one of the strongest rhythm sections in the area, laying down grooves reminiscent of the Motown era.

lyrics

"U.S. 50"
by John Fries

Got the wheel between your hands, drive till the sun is gone
Dreams to carry you from the night time to the morning
Somehow the open road doesn't feel so alone this time
This lonely stretch of US 50 starts to feel like hope

At a truck stop past St Louis I stopped to call you
Said sorry baby I know late, just need to hear your voice
With a broken-hearted tone she answered the phone
And the words she said to me stay with me to today

You know I miss you more than ever, but you dreams were never mine
You know it's just tp hard to handle
We were alone all this time

To leave the life we know, to somehow let it go
Before your dreams they fade away
To leave it all behind, for some piece of mind
Learn to love again someday

Got the wheel between your hands, drive till the sun is gone
Dreams to carry you from the night time till the morning
Somehow the open road doesn't feel so alone this time
This lonely stretch of US 50 starts to feel like hope

You know I miss you baby more than you'll ever know
You know you darling but know I had to go
You know I miss you baby more than you'll ever know
You know I miss you darling but know that I had to go
